Louis Roux made pipes in Cogolin, France, one of the few places outside Saint-Claude with a serious briar-making tradition. The Maures Mountains produced excellent briar, and Roux leaned into it, often stamping his pipes “Bruyère des Maures.” He ran the shop until 1956, when it passed to his son-in-law, Santo d’Amico, who kept the lights on into the early 1980s.
You’re not buying a Louis Roux for flashy silverwork or collector hype. You’re buying one because the old French knew how to drill a pipe, cure good briar, and get the fundamentals right. Most are classic shapes with clean lines and light weight. They smoke like working pipes—steady, dry, and without much fuss.
They’re still sleepers in today’s market. Collectors know the name, but it hasn’t been bid into the stratosphere, so you can often pick up a well-made French pipe for less than an equivalent English or Danish piece.
I’d buy one every time if the condition and price are right. They’re the kind of pipe that quietly earns a permanent spot in the rack instead of sitting in a display case trying to impress somebody.

My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
