Founded by Henri Vuillard in Saint-Claude, Vuillard was one of the many respected French factories that helped make the region the pipe capital of the world. The company also operated a London branch, Vuillard & Strauss, and eventually became part of the Cuty-Fort Group alongside Chacom in 1988.
Vuillard never became a household name like Comoy’s or Butz-Choquin, which is probably why they’re still such a good buy. The shaping is classic French—clean lines, comfortable in the hand, and generally well engineered. They were built to be smoked, not admired in a display case.
That’s what makes them appealing today. Most collectors walk right past the name because it doesn’t carry much cachet, but the pipes themselves are usually honest, well-made smokers. You’re buying craftsmanship, not a logo.
Most estates still fly under the radar, often landing in the $40–100 range depending on condition and grade. If I found a clean Saint-Claude Vuillard in that window, I’d scoop it up without much hesitation. It’s the kind of underappreciated French factory pipe that reminds you not every good smoker has to come with a famous name.

My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
