Barontini is one of those names that flies under the radar, but they’ve been working briar in Livorno, Italy since the late 1800s. These folks have spent decades making pipes not only under their own name but for other brands too, which is why you’ll sometimes smoke a Barontini that’s every bit the equal of a much more famous Italian pipe. Their own lineup runs from honest everyday smokers to some downright handsome higher grades with excellent grain. They tend to favor classic Italian shaping—comfortable in the hand, open draft, and built to be smoked instead of admired from across the room. Estate prices are still surprisingly soft because collectors chase Savinelli and Castello first. That’s just fine by me. A clean older Barontini with good grain is one I’ll buy all day long because you’re getting a century-plus of Italian know-how without paying for a fancy name.

My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
