Ser Jacopo came out of Pesaro in the early ’80s when Giancarlo Guidi walked away from Mastro de Paja and decided he wasn’t done pushing Italian pipes forward. 
What he built wasn’t just another workshop—it was the loudest, most unapologetically Italian expression of the Pesaro school. Big shapes, bold lines, and then he took it further—silver, horn, exotic woods, even gemstones set into stems like jewelry. Nobody else was doing that at that level. 
They still crank out a relatively small number—around a few thousand a year—and every one leans into that same philosophy: take classical shapes, then push them just far enough to feel alive. 
The lineup runs wide. You’ve got Mastro Geppetto as the entry lane, then you climb through their graded finishes, and at the top you hit the Gem series—actual stones, gold mounts, collector bait done right, not gimmicky. 
Smoking-wise, they’ve got a reputation that holds up. Good Italian briar, well seasoned, drilled right. These aren’t just lookers—they’re built to burn clean. 
Bottom line—Ser Jacopo is what happens when Italian pipe making stops trying to be polite. Big personality, real craftsmanship, and just enough excess to make collectors pay attention.

My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
