Machiavelli is one of Italy’s little mysteries. The name shows up often enough to prove it wasn’t a one-off, but nobody has ever definitively tied it to a specific factory. Pipedia throws its hands up with a question mark, and that’s about where the trail goes cold. What isn’t a mystery is that most of the pipes are honest Italian briars with classic shaping and better engineering than their obscurity would suggest.
Collectors don’t chase the name, which is exactly why I like it. You’re often getting a well-made Italian smoker for less than an equivalent Savinelli, simply because the stamp doesn’t carry any prestige. No fairy tales, no cult following, just solid briar wearing an unfamiliar name. If you find a clean one with good grain at the right price, don’t overthink it. I’d buy the pipe before I’d buy the story.

I combine shipping on orders over $40 in the continental US, just ask!
Measurements available upon request.
My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
