Brakner is Peter Micklson reborn with a stage name, one of the quiet godfathers of the Danish freehand movement. He came up at Suhr’s in Copenhagen with Sixten Ivarsson running the bench and Poul Rasmussen stepping in behind him, so the pedigree is as pure as it gets. His breakout came when a Brakner pipe won the 1955 World Championship of Pipe Smoking and suddenly this “Antique”-finished, microrusticated briar with that strange, almost pebbled skin was on everybody’s radar. Through the ’60s and early ’70s he was one of the first true high-end Danes into the US market, turning out tall, lean stacks and freehands under the Antique, Royal Danois and Deluxe lines that looked different, felt different, and smoked like they meant it. He died too early taking his trademark antique rustication to the grave with him and the name faded, but the pipes haven’t: real Brakners are one of those “if you know, you know” estates — scarce, idiosyncratic, and absolutely rooted in the same school that produced the legends you and I chase every day.

I combine shipping on orders over $40 in the continental US, just ask!
Measurements available upon request.
My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion
